Since 1999
Once upon a time, a local chiropractor, by the name of Mark Szymanski decided to put together
a motorcycle run.  Here's the story;
Mark has polio. Throughout his life, he spent many nights in the hospital. Back when he was a
child, although he had a very loving and caring family, many other children did not. He witnessed
many "Throw away kids"  During the holidays when these kids were not only very sick, but also
alone, except for doctors and nurses on staff, there was no Santa and reindeer, or angels on
top of trees. Just cold and lonely hospital rooms.
Mark overcame his illnesses enough that he grew to have a successful life and career. He
married and they adopted two children, biological sisters.  But that wasn't enough, he never
forgot those kids who had nothing.
In 1999, he started an annual motorcycle run and called it "Doc Mark's Run For The Kids".
From this, he was able to provide presents to lots of kids at Christmas every year since.  The
run is held on the first Sunday in October, so he thought it would be fun to give the run a
Halloween theme. One year it was Frankenstein, then it was the Creature from the Black
Lagoon. Elvira made an appearance once,  etc, then somewhere around the 5th or 6th year, the
theme was The Grim Reaper.  That year, Mark decided to buy leather vests for all of his run
volunteers.  One of the volunteers had an embroidery machine and made patches with the Grim
to put on the vests.  Everybody loved them! Well, for obvious reasons, since he wouldn't have
new patches made every year, the Grim stuck! That's how it became our logo.
The logo is only used during motorcycle type events. Every December, Mark dresses up as
Santa and personally hand delivers toys to unfortunate kids.
